FINISHED! AHH! SUCH A GOOD EP!
and, this is totally random, but the lovely lee yeon hee (who plays young ran/grace) is going to be featured on super junior’s new album! (super junior = a popular kpop boy group currently making their comeback). isn’t that awesome? i didn’t know she could sing, so i am excited to hear how that turns out since i totally adore her after watching east of eden.

Episode 55 starts with Dong chul and Young ran escaping in the car.


Over in another car, Dong wook calls in on the radio to let everyone know that Dong chul has escaped. He thinks he knows where Dong chul is going so he decides to try to catch him himself.

Over at the Lee house, a beat up Myung hun arrives.

Yoon hee and Ji hyun instantly blame Shin tae hwan and Myung hun vows to destroy Taesung… if Yoon hee will give her permission.

He wants to reveal Shin tae hwan’s crimes.
She gives permission… if Ji hyun will agree. Of course, Ji hyun agrees as well.

Dong chul and Young ran run through the hospital to Chunhee’s room.
She sits up and asks what is wrong, but Dong chul just says he won’t be able to see her for awhile.

“Mom, this is young ran. She’s the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”
“You have waited a long time to say this.”
I KNOW! He has!

Of course, Chunhee approves. (Although she admits that he doesn’t really need her permission, he says he wants her blessing.)
She tells Young ran that she is too skinny and doesn’t look well… how will she have a baby? Chunhee holds the couples hands and tells them to live well.<3

Dong wook arrives at the hospital. Mr.Kang blocks him from going in to the room and Dong wook yells in his face.

Then Jung ja comes out and begs him not to arrest his brother in front of his mother.
While Jung ja is still staring at him pleadingly, he orders his men into the room. They come back out instantly and say Dong chul and Young ran aren’t in there.

Before Dong wook leaves, Jung ja asks him to see his mother. But he walks away coldly. Jerk.
Chunhee lays in her hospital room and cries. ; ___ ;

Back in Dong wook’s office, he is angry. His assistants haven’t heard any news about Dong chul’s location but they sent his picture to airports and borders.
Jackie and his men are also being chased- Dong wook wants to arrest ALL OF THEM.
He orders Dong chul’s friends and family to be searched. (Including Priest Han.)

Dong chul is buying a drink from a vending machine when he sees himself on a wanted poster. He and Young ran run to their car (right past a police car- not very sneaky…)

A gang of gangsters!
By sticking a mirror in, Dong wook’s assisstant can see that the gangsters don’t know they are there. So they attack.
Dong wook, at a press conference, tells the reporters that they caught drug traffickers.
Shin tae hwan is pleased because Dong wook is arresting the Macao people… soon he will arrest Jackie and then Shin tae hwan won’t have to pay Jackie anything.
Mr.Hwang is impressed as always.
“Lee Dong Wook’s fame will rise to the sky!”
Shin tae hwan is very proud of his son.
Then Mr.Hwang points out that Shin tae hwan still owes him lots of money.

Shin tae hwan yells back that Mr.Hwang failed to destroy Dong chul and Jackie, and he gets nothing until they are arrested.
Mr.Hwang is angry. Watch him totally explode and backstab/kill Shin tae hwan. I can so see it coming.

Dong chul and Young ran visit Ki chul’s grave.
“She is someone who is more precious than life to me. Father, you have to love her more than you love me.”
AWWW ; ___ ;
“Father, I’m a girl who cannot even tie Dong chul’s shoelaces. But if you say it’s okay, then I will love him with all my heart and my life.”

@!$#@%$#^ ♥♥♥♥ THEIR COUPLE IS LOVE!
They drive to a cliff and look out over the land. Young ran grabs up a bunch of snow and flings it at Dong chul’s face. He grabs some and throws it back, and I am sure you know what happens next.

SO ADORABLE.

As cheesy and random as it is, I think we were all in need of an adorable couple scene between them. Perfect timing. I couldn’t have lasted through too much more sadness without a break.

They sit together and Young ran asks him if this is happiness.

Suddenly Young ran tells Dong chul that she has a confession.

“I’m hungry.” xD

They go to the ocean and see squid hanging to dry. Young ran takes some squid off the thing and stuffs money into a squid next to it. They quickly drive away.
In the car, she feeds Dong chul some of the squid. It’s adorable.

Jackie is angry that his men are being arrested.

He wants to get rid of Mr.Lee (Dong wook) but another guy tries to talk him out of it.
Jackie orders his guys to stop Dong wook by any means necessary. Out of nowhere, Pres Gook’s ex right hand man comes out of nowhere and says he knows what to do. He will somehow make Dong chul fight Dong wook for them.

(He speaks perfect chinese, korean, and english! Amazing!)

Dong chul and Young ran arrive at the border. They grab their bags and run away from their car because they know they wont get past the border gaurds in their car.
They run through the town and manage to trick the police into running right past them.

Dong wook in his office hears the news that Dong chul and Young ran escaped from their car at the border. He is angry.

Dong chul and Young ran arrive at some hotel. When Young ran tells the woman they are on their honeymoon, she happily agrees to give them a special room.
IT’S TOTALLY ADORABLE♥.
Inside, Dong chul picks up Young ran and is insanely cheesy.

(WHO ELSE DIED OF THE CHEESY CUTENESS? I LOVE THEIR COUPLE)
Outside, Dong chul tells Young ran he has a confession.

The very first time they met in Macao when she sang with a soup ladle, he thought she was the person he had always been waiting for.
“Then why did you act like I wasn’t?”
“Because you were too pretty.”

She says they wasted time by not admitting their feelings but he reminds her that for them, one day is a thousand years.
They kiss♥

(The song in this scene is Lee Bo Ram’s “Hongdu II” track number 8 from the first part of the OST.)
They wake up in bed together.

Finally they are together. If only their happiness could just last like this forever.
Young ran tries to sneak out of bed but Dong chul wakes up instantly and is cheesy again. Even Young ran calls him cheesy.
BUT HE’S SO CUTE! (ignore my fangirling~)

He tells her that today is their wedding day.

Priest Han gets in a taxi and Dong wook’s assisstants follow him.
Another black car follows them.
Priest Han glances over his shoulder and realizes he is being followed. He somehow manages to get the taxi drive to totally go out of nowhere and turn through some orange cones and escapes.

The guy whose name I have forgotten again (Prs Gook’s ex right hand man, the macao kidnapper, etc) is going to go to Kang won do to get Dong chul.

Jackie tells him to kill Dong chul if he can’t bring him in.
The guy swears he will not disappoint Jackie this time.

Priest Han sets out a pair of rings. Dong chul and Young ran walk into the church.
(Okay, since they are getting married right now, doesn’t it make you think that someone is going to die? Like, at least they got married before they died. If they didn’t get married I would assume they would both live until they could get married. But now they are married.)
We have some flashbacks of all their past scenes.




These remind me how long this drama is… and how much they have suffered.


They are married by Priest Han.

Outside, they thank Priest Han for coming so far away to do this for them. He says he is happy to do this for them.

And then Dong chul makes the idiotic decision to go inside and put the wedding dress away, leaving Young ran outside by herself. WAY TO FAIL.
Jackie’s right hand man (that’s his new name, okay?) watches Young ran.

Meanwhile, Dong chul kills more time inside by calling Myung hun- leaving poor defenseless Young ran alone even longer. His conversation with Myung hun is unimportant. Dong chul tells him to take care of their mother and Myung hun tells Dong chul that he is releasing Shin tae hwan’s crimes today.
Mostly the phone call is just a plot device that makes it possible for Young ran to be kidnapped right out from under Dong chul’s nose.
Dong chul goes outside and sees Young ran being stuffed into a car. He runs after her but, really, how can a man chase a car?

Someone throws a piece of paper out the window and Dong chul calls the phone number on the paper.

It’s Jackie.
Jackie says Dong chul broke the promise and Dong chul says he will replace Young ran if Jackie lets her go.
Jackie says Young ran dies if Dong chul doesn’t make Dong wook free all his men.

Myung hun and Ji hyun go to the press center. They share a teary eyed moment and both look really good.


Shin tae hwan watches it on his tv and is pissed off. Myung hun is willing to give out any details and destroy himself to destroy Taesung.

He tells Kyung tae to call the blue house so he can meet with them. (Blue house = president.)

Chunhee and Yoonhee also watch it on tv and Yoonhee cries. Chunhee is sad to watch a son destroy his father, Yoonhee says this is necessary.
Chunhee says she has always envied Yoonhee. Her life is like a dark tunnel, but Yoonhee’s is so much better… she left the hospital in a helipcopter when Chunhee couldn’t even pay the hospital bill.
They thank each other for raising each other’s children.
@!$#@%@$%#$^% Finally! I have been waiting for this scene! They always seemed like they could be friends.

Priest Han arrives to check on Chunhee. He tells her that Dong chul and Young ran are married. Suddenly Dong wook bursts in and asks Priest Han where he went after escaping from the detectives.
Yoonhee tries to stop him and he asks if she is on his side or Myung hun’s side.

“I am a prosecutor on the side of the law, but no one is on my side.”
“Dong wook, do you really believe Dong chul is guilty? I’m very disappointed in you.”
I AM DISAPPOINTED TOO. I still have issues with Dong wook’s character change. Based on the rest of the drama, his character shouldn’t have turned out like this.
Priest Han and Yoonhee leave and Chunhee asks how Dong wook can possible be chasing Dong chul- the perfect older brother.
Dong wook tells her to not misunderstand- Dong chul and Shin tae hwan are the same.
CAN HE EVEN HEAR HIMSELF?
He tells Chunhee that Dong chul was arrested during a drug deal. She says he can’t possibly believe that. And he is only bothered by that and not that Shin tae hwan landed her in the hospital?

“Your brother wouldn’t hurt you. He would only protect you.”
Dong wook leaves without saying anything.
In the hallway, Yoonhee stops him.
She says that everytime she sees him, she wants to call out his name and hug him. And she asks for his forgiveness before turning to walk away.

He watches her go, with her sad painful steps away from him.
Then Priest Han appears to talk to him.
“Human beings are absure in that they cannot show their love to their loved ones.”
He says Dong wook is suffering because he can’t express the love in his heart.

(Priest Han looks OLD.)

In Dong wook’s office he gets a call from Dong chul.

Dong chul will only meet if Dong wook comes alone.
Determination face! (haha, that lasted too long)

Dong chul waits in a park and sees Dong wook arrive. He tries to hug Dong wook but Dong wook shoves him away.
Dong chul says he has a wish… Jackie has kidnapped Young ran…

Dong wook points out that Dong chul also kidnapped Young ran from the DA office.
Dong chul begs Dong wook to release the Macao people and leave Jackie alone.
“Are you crazy?”
“I know. Let’s save Young ran first, and then I will do whatever you ask me to do.”
Of course, Dong wook is not really supportive of this idea.
Dong chul tries to get Dong wook to agree to unite against Jackie but Dong wook laughs in his face.

Dong chul begs again and Dong wook agrees… that he will save her.
“But don’t think that you can save her. You aren’t a god. You’re a criminal.”

Dong chul doesn’t even care- as long as Young ran lives, nothing else matters.
Dong wook looks disgusted by Dong chul. And when Dong chul promises to turn himself in, Dong chul says he can’t trust Dong chul’s promises. (Stupid Shin tae hwan and his tape thing!)
“Dong wook, I’m married. Young ran and I are married. Young ran is a part of our family now.”

“I’m begging you. It’s my last wish as your brother.”
And his only wish. When has Dong chul ever asked Dong wook for anything? He always does everything for him~ But then he decides he is asking too much of Dong wook.
WOW I HATE DONG WOOK.
“Brother, hold on.”

Brother?!?! O___O
“I cannot let you leave like this.”
“Thank you Dong wook, I really appreciate it.”

He shakes Dong wook’s hand, and Dong wook slaps hand cuffs on his wrist.

Wow. Really, Dong wook’s asshole-ness just makes me want to throw up.
I seriously seriously hate him.
He just looks so freaking pleased with himself when he is an insane jerk to Dong chul.
Preview looks even more intense than this episode.
But I have to say this was one of the best episode endings ever. Totally killing me.
And I love the subbers forever because they sub this show faster than I have ever seen anyone sub anything. Amazing.
Too bad the show pissess me off so much lol.
